You're
right, nothing normally is free and we are a commercial organisation.
However, we make our money elsewhere, from selling our business
and consultancy services. We also are very aware of where we
came from, and without the ability to download free software
in those early years we would not be here. So this is our way
of giving a little back to the software and information systems
community that helped us get where we are today - thanks guys!
The
upshot of this is that we have provided our software for free
since 1996 and would like things to stay that way, so long as
we can make enough profit elsewhere, by selling our services
and systems to cover our costs, we will keep things the way
they are. All we ask is that you limit our costs by respecting
our servers if you use them.
